Deven Mendoza

I am a Mexican-American artist and designer based in San Jose. My earliest memories of Halloween come from my parents telling me that a dancing skeleton decoration was actually my twin brother. As an only child, I think that explains a lot about how I wound up here.

My fascination with special effects and horror fueled my path to becoming a sculptor in my early teenage years. I began making my own figures and costume pieces with paper mache and ceramics before moving on to oil based clay and casting.

I created Mendoza's Monsters in 2017 to pursue my art seriously and share it with the world.

Mask Maker for Life

My obsession with masks goes way back.

It started with my aunt's attempt to scare me using a velociraptor mask. Even as a toddler, I was more interested in the artistic details.

Today, I aim to pass on that same spark of wonder through my own creations... and maybe a successful scare this time.
